PhD Student
Alessio Colleoni obtained his master’s degree in Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Technology (110/110 cum laude) at the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Pavia in July 2023, under the supervision of Prof. Simona Collina, with an experimental thesis entitled “Small molecules able to interfere with HuR-mRNA complexes as potential anticancer agents: synthesis and enantiomeric resolution of BOPC analogues”.
In October 2023, he won a Research Fellowship in Medicinal Chemistry at the University of Pavia entitled “Design, synthesis and development studies of novel compounds endowed with antimicrobial activity” founded by “INF-ACT” (PE13) under the supervision of Professor Simona Collina. In April 2024, he won a Research Fellowship at the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, University of Milan, under the supervision of Prof. Carlo Matera for a project entitled “A new strategy to reshape pathological lipid metabolism based on targeting the translation apparatus”.
In November 2024 he joined the National PhD course in “Photoinduced Processes and Technologies”, in collaboration with the Biotechnology Group of “Latvian Institute of Organic Synthesis”, under the supervision of Professors Carlo Matera, Emilio Parisini and Rossella Castagna. His work will be focusing on the “Modulation of bacterial cell adhesion proteins via photoswitchable ligands as promising strategy to counteract biofilm formation”.
In March 2025 he also obtained a II Level Master Degree in “Design and Development of Drugs” from the University of Pavia, defending a Thesis titled: “Harnessing the Potential of Usnic Acid Derivatives against Fungal Infections: Design, Synthesis and Biological Investigation”.
